Freeze dried pasta sauce is a staple in our pantry, and you might be surprised at all the things you can use it for.
- Pasta: Let's start with the obvious. It's certainly a headliner over a plate of pip'in hot pasta. The best part is that it only takes about 30 seconds to rehydrate and it's ready to go. Say gooodbye to throwing out partial jars of sauce you had every intention of using. Now you can rehydrate only what you need for that meal and waste nothing.
- Pizza: This sauce is so good you'll want to skip buying a seperate product for your pizza sauce and use this instead. Pour freeze dried sauce into a bowl and slowly add water, stirring, until you've reached the desired consistency. This will likely be a little runnier than if you were using it for pasta.
- Tomato Paste: Yes, you heard me right. Use this as a tomato paste substitute. I have yet to find a recipe which calls for an entire can of paste, and I either end up throwing out the rest, or freezing it, only to forget about it and throw it out later. Now, if I have a recipe which calls for a tablespoon of paste, I simply get out my Storehouse freeze dried pasta sauce, put a few tablespoons into a bowl, and slowly add just enough water to turn it into a thick paste. This is an ideal substitute, because freeze drying pulls out all the moisture and naturally concentrates the flavors. What's even easier? If you're using paste in a recipe which already has liquid, don't worry about the step of rehydrating. Just throw in the powder and you're good to go!
- Soup & Stew Flavor Enhancer: Want to add some fantastic flavor to almost any soup or stew? Just toss in a tablespoon or two of the freeze dried pasta sauce. You won't regret it.
- Dips & Marinades: With freeze dried sauce, you're in control when it comes to rehydrating it to your perfect consistency. This gives you the flexibility to use it for just about any kind of dip you'd like. Mix with olive oil and make this an integral part of a meat marinade, and you'll be loving the results.
The fun is in the experimenting. The pasta-bilities are endless! I'd love to hear from you on your great ideas. What else have you used this in?
